There were many dinosaur species on earth (around 850). Some of them ate plants (sauropod), while others ate meat (theropod). The most numerous herbivorous species were apatosaurus and brachiosaur. They were some of the largest amimals ever. Apatosaurus, for example, could weigh 30 tons and reach 21 meters in length. But they found that the smallest of the T-Rex specimens was 19.4 meters. Moreover, carnotaurus was a horned, uncommon species. Also, the species Ceratosaurus had small feet, but was very deadly. Other herbivorous dinosaurs had special weapons to protect themselves from carnivorous dinosaurs. For example, triceratops had three horns on its head, while ankylosaurus was protected by protruding bones, while styracosaurus had sharp spines on its tail.
Of course, there were some short-legged dinosaurs. Dinosaurs such as deinonychus and its cousin oviraptor can be given as examples. These dinosaurs can be fast and predatory.
Carnivorous dinosaurs walked on their hind legs just like humans. Their forelimbs were very small.
Some, such as Spinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Carnotaurus, were extremely large, while others, such as Compsognathus (about 5.5 kg and 60 cm), were also extremely small.
Dinosaur eggs had rather thick shells. This shell protects the baby inside, and thanks to the special bond inside, the baby was growing safely.
At the same time as the dinosaurs, there were also flying creatures such as pterosaurus and archeopteryx, but they were not very closely related to dinosaurs. There were also numerous swimming reptiles such as ichthyosaurus and pleisiosaurus. But they were not closely related to dinosaurs, either.
