Nevşehir, a city in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey with around 290.000 population, has ben formed of different amazing natural events in many years. First thing first, Cappadocia comes to mind when someone says Nevşehir. With around 2 million tourist visitngs each year, Nevşehir is one of the most popular cities among tourists in Turkey. It includes world-wide famous Fairy Chimneys among with many other visiting point which makes the city very attractive. Nevşehir takes attention with its historical artifacts that has important culturel meanings, because there were many different civilizations founded in today’s city boundaries throughout the history.
When we look briefly at the history of the city, you can see many artifacts buit around B.C. 7000, which belongs to Neolithic Age. About B.C. 1200, when Nevşehir was under the rule of Hittites, the city was invaded and attacked by Scythians and many other nomad tribes. In B.C. 680, Assyrians took the control of the city and later on in the year 610, Persians invaded Nevşehir. After Byzantine and Sassanian times, Seljuq Dynasty reigned until 1097, when Crusaders took the city. Lastly, Ottoman Empire took the control in Nevşehir. The City looks like an open air museum since all these civilizations left traces, treasures and artifacts behind them. Nevşehir, today, is opening its gates to the world also with its many natural beauties and developing its tourism and gets more attention day by day. World-wide famous Cappadocia Cave Hotels hosts thousands of local and foreign tourists every year.
