The professor can sit on (üzerinde) the desk (when he's being informal) or behind (arkasında) the desk, and then his feet areunder (altında) the desk or beneath (altında) the desk. He can stand beside (yanında) the desk (meaning next to (yanında) the desk), before (önünde) the desk, between (arasında) the desk and you, or even on (üzerinde) the desk (if he's really strange). If he's clumsy, he can bump into (içine doğru) the desk or try to walk through (içinden) the desk (and stuff would fall off (aşağı) the desk). Passing his hands over (üstünde) the desk or resting his elbows upon (üzerinde) the desk, he often looks across (karşıya) the desk and speaks of the desk or concerning (ilgili olarak) the desk as if there were nothing elselike (gibi) the desk. Because he thinks of nothing except (dışında) the desk, sometimes you wonder about (hakkında) the desk, what's in (içinde)the desk, what he paid for (için) the desk, and if he could live without (olmaksızın) the desk. You can walk toward (-e doğru) the desk, to (-e, -a) the desk, around (çevresinde) the desk, by (boyunca) the desk, and even past (geride bırakmak) the desk while he sits at (-de, -da) the desk or leans against (-e, -a) the desk.
All of this happens, of course, in time: during (esnasında) the class, before (önce) the class, until (-e kadar) the class,throughout (boyunca) the class, after (sonra) the class, etc. and the professor can sit there in a bad mood [another adverbial construction].
