Muslum Gurses was born on 7 May 1952, in Sanliurfa, Turkey. When he was alive, he was also called "Muslum Baba" by his fans. He was a very well-known arabesk singer as well as an actor. His parents had rough times when he was a child, especially financial difficulties were so prominent, he would work in the cotton fields when he was a child. He also worked at different jobs. When he was 15, he participated a song contest and won. Having won the award, he started singing on the radio.Year after year, he gained recognition and popularity in Turkey. He starred a few films in the late 1960s . Although he was known for being an arabesque music singer, his interest in music changed and he also sang pop and rock songs.In 2013, he passed away due to his deteriorated health.
